Lab Directions for Monday (10/19) and Tuesday (10/20)

Hello dancers!

Monday and Tuesday we will be in the lab working on your portfolios and reflecting on  your progress this quarter! Please review and complete the following directions:


  • Complete remaining slides (don't worry about the slide number if yours are different)
  • Start on new slides:
    • Q1 Assessment
      • Start by watching your videos from start to finish.
      • Then reflect on your videos by answering the following questions:
        • After watching your videos, what score would you give yourself on this assessment, and why?
        • Give yourself two positive pieces of feedback and two constructive pieces of feedback.

        • Of all of the skills assessed in Quarter 1, 
          • which one was the most difficult for you? and why?
          • which one were you the most confident about? and why?
        • Which specific skills or movements do you need more focus or growth in? Why do you think so?
    • Q2 Flexibility (Splits Pics)
      • Start by checking your email for a link to your class's splits pics.
      • Find your pictures and post on your slides.
      • Answer the following questions:
        • Do you think you are more flexible now than you were at the beginning of the year? How do you know? (2 sentences)
        • What other parts of your body need more flexibility? Do a Google search or brainstorm to find more ways to stretch those areas. List 3-5 stretches below.
    • Quarter Reflection
      • Reflect back on your experience in Dance during Quarter 1, and answer the following questions:
        • What has been your favorite part of Dance so far this quarter (2 sentences)?
        • What do you enjoy about ballet? (2 sentences)
        • Watch this recent clip of Misty Copeland on The Late Show and answer the following questions:
          • What skills does Misty Copeland perform that we have also learned in class?
          • How is Misty Copeland's performance similar to traditional and classic ballet performances?
          • How is Misty Copeland's performance different from traditional and classic ballet performances?
        • What ballet skills do you still want to learn? (2-3 sentences)
